No. 85 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House May 5, 1997; 1-3 May 6, 1997, read first time and referred to Committee on 1-4 Administration; May 15, 1997, reported favorably by the following 1-5 vote: Yeas 6, Nays 0; May 15, 1997, sent to printer.) 1-6 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-7 WHEREAS, State law (Section 2165.256, Government Code) 1-8 specifies those persons eligible for burial in the State Cemetery 1-9 and authorizes the legislature to grant eligibility to other 1-10 persons through the adoption of a concurrent resolution; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Dan Beto, and his wife Donna Beto, have expressed a 1-12 desire to be buried in the State Cemetery, and their request merits 1-13 approval based on Mr. Beto's many years of distinguished service in 1-14 the field of criminal justice; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Mr. Beto's father, George Beto, is already interred 1-16 in the State Cemetery, and his mother has been granted permission 1-17 to be laid to rest there as well; the family's request to be buried 1-18 in a common resting ground is indeed a reasonable one, and the 1-19 family's legacy of service to the State of Texas compels the 1-20 legislature to accommodate them in this matter; now, therefore, be 1-21 it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-23 hereby authorize the burial of Dan Beto and Donna Beto in the 1-24 State Cemetery, provided proper application for assignment of 1-25 burial space is made to the General Services Commission as required 1-26 by law; and, be it further 1-27 RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official 1-28 copy of this resolution to the chairman of the General Services 1-29 Commission. 1-30 * * * * *
