HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 1-1           WHEREAS, On June 30, 1997, Dr. Gordon M. Anderson will retire

 1-2     from his position as superintendent of the Spring Independent

 1-3     School District, and it is indeed fitting at this time to honor

 1-4     this notable Texan for his many contributions to the community; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Dr. Anderson's 16 years of service to the school

 1-6     district have been characterized by the energy and intellect that

 1-7     he brings to all endeavors, and his excellence as an administrator

 1-8     has often been recognized by his peers; twice named Outstanding

 1-9     Superintendent of the Year for Region IV, he was also one of five

1-10     finalists for the Texas Association of School Boards 1995

1-11     Superintendent of the Year award; and

1-12           WHEREAS, His dedication to his work has extended far beyond

1-13     the requirements of his job, and Dr. Anderson's personal

1-14     involvement in the classroom has inspired teachers and students

1-15     alike; devoted to instilling a lifelong love of literature in his

1-16     young charges, he has given readings in such unusual venues as

1-17     rooftops and hot air balloons, arriving for these performances by

1-18     motorcycle, boat, or helicopter, and his enthusiasm for his mission

1-19     has been both effective and infectious; and

1-20           WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Dr. Anderson has drawn on the

1-21     love and support of his close-knit family, and he and his wife,

1-22     Judy, take great pride and pleasure in their daughters and

1-23     sons-in-law, Laurel and Max Reid, Melinda and Kevin Rynbrandt, and

1-24     Heidi Anderson; their  son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Jill

 2-1     Anderson; and their grandchildren, Sam Reid, Max Reid, Quentin

 2-2     Rynbrandt, and Luke Rynbrandt; and

 2-3           WHEREAS, Dr. Anderson's profound commitment to education has

 2-4     greatly benefited his friends and neighbors in the Spring

 2-5     Independent School District, and he is truly deserving of special

 2-6     praise and recognition for his many contributions; now, therefore,

 2-7     be it

 2-8           RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas

 2-9     hereby honor Dr. Gordon M. Anderson on the occasion of his

2-10     retirement and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued

2-11     success and happiness in the future; and, be it further

2-12           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-13     prepared for Dr. Anderson as an expression of high regard by the

2-14     Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
