HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
1-1 WHEREAS, Craig William Hemenway has completed the rigorous
1-2 requirements necessary to attain the rank of Eagle Scout, and this
1-3 accomplishment is truly deserving of special legislative
1-4 recognition; and
1-5 WHEREAS, An honors student at Scarborough Senior High School,
1-6 Eagle Scout Hemenway began his scouting career as a member of Cub
1-7 Scout Troop 40; this outstanding young man soon worked his way
1-8 through the ranks of Wolf and Bear scout to Webelo, at which level
1-9 he earned all 20 available activity badges; and
1-10 WHEREAS, Mr. Hemenway's scouting career includes receipt of
1-11 the prestigious Parvuli Dei Catholic Religious Medal for Scouts and
1-12 the Arrow of Light, the highest honor a Cub Scout can earn; his
1-13 advancement into the Boy Scouts of America organization
1-14 corresponded with his enrollment in Seton Junior High School, and
1-15 this National Junior Honor Society inductee successfully used the
1-16 leadership skills he developed as a Cub Scout to excel in this
1-17 challenging environment; and
1-18 WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Hemenway began his high school years as
1-19 a student in the magnet aviation program at Sterling Senior High
1-20 School, where he was named Outstanding Cadet in the school's naval
1-21 Junior R.O.T.C. program; in addition, this enthusiastic youth
1-22 participated in many team and individual competitions as a member
1-23 of the rifle corps; and
1-24 WHEREAS, For his Eagle Scout project, he devoted much of last
2-1 summer to organizing an effort to remodel and expand the Reflection
2-2 Garden at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church; this accomplishment has
2-3 been greatly appreciated by the members of the church and has
2-4 earned him the respect and admiration of his family, friends, and
2-5 fellow congregants; and
2-6 WHEREAS, Mr. Hemenway is scheduled to graduate from
2-7 Scarborough Senior High School on June 1, 1997, and he then plans
2-8 to study architecture at the University of Houston; the many
2-9 valuable skills and lessons he has learned as a scout will no doubt
2-10 aid him as he pursues this significant quest, and his future
2-11 endeavors are certain to bring tremendous honor to the Boy Scouts
2-12 of America organization; and
2-13 WHEREAS, Craig William Hemenway is a source of great pride to
2-14 his family and friends, and on March 15, 1997, they will gather
2-15 with his fellow scouts at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church for his
2-16 Eagle Scout Court of Honor; his dedication to the scouting movement
2-17 is indeed commendable, and it is a privilege to join in honoring
2-18 him on this significant achievement; now, therefore, be it
2-19 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas
2-20 hereby congratulate Craig William Hemenway on attaining the rank of
2-21 Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
2-22 success and happiness in the years to come; and, be it further
2-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-24 prepared for Eagle Scout Hemenway as an expression of high regard
2-25 by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
