HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 1-1           WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans

 1-2     who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a

 1-3     memorable occasion worthy of special recognition; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Aldredge "Button" Estes, Jr., and Patricia Estes of

 1-5     Midland recently had the privilege of commemorating such a

 1-6     momentous event in their lives when they celebrated their golden

 1-7     wedding anniversary on March 1, 1997; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, Since sharing their wedding vows, the couple have

 1-9     nurtured an enduring relationship that has grown in love and

1-10     respect with each passing year, and they have enriched not only

1-11     their own lives, but the lives of those around them with their

1-12     devotion to each other; and

1-13           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Estes are well known throughout the

1-14     area as ranchers, and they have further contributed to their

1-15     community through their involvement in a number of organizations; a

1-16     World War II veteran, Mr. Estes has been active in the Sandhills

1-17     Hereford and Quarter Horse Show for more than 44 years, while

1-18     Mrs. Estes has given generously of her time and talents to assist

1-19     the High Sky Girl's Ranch and the board of the Midland County

1-20     Hospital District; and

1-21           WHEREAS, The couple are the proud parents of two children,

1-22     Virginia Estes, a microbiologist at Midland Memorial Hospital, and

1-23     Aldredge "Beau" Estes III, who faithfully serves his fellow

1-24     citizens as deputy sheriff of Midland County; in recent years, they

 2-1     have welcomed a daughter-in-law, Barbara Skaggs Estes, into the

 2-2     family fold, and she is active in the law enforcement profession as

 2-3     well, as a jailer with the Midland County Sheriff's Department; and

 2-4           WHEREAS, For a half-century, Button and Pat Estes have shared

 2-5     a warm and affectionate union filled with many happy times and

 2-6     cherished family memories; built on a solid foundation of mutual

 2-7     love, trust, and support, their marriage has long been a source of

 2-8     joy and inspiration to the many friends and family of this

 2-9     fortunate pair; now, therefore, be it

2-10           RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas

2-11     hereby congratulate Aldredge "Button" Estes, Jr., and Patricia

2-12     Estes on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend

2-13     to them warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it

2-14     further

2-15           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-16     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Estes as an expression of high regard by

2-17     the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
