HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
1-1 WHEREAS, The 75th Legislature of the State of Texas is proud
1-2 to pay tribute to the members of the Texas Federation of Republican
1-3 Women for their exceptional efforts in behalf of the candidates of
1-4 the Republican Party; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Organized in 1957, 19 years after the formation of
1-6 the National Federation of Republican Women, the Texas Federation
1-7 is one of the largest and most influential women's political
1-8 organizations in the Lone Star State; and
1-9 WHEREAS, The members of this venerable group have provided a
1-10 political education forum for women and have volunteered countless
1-11 hours to campaigning for Republican Party candidates; the hard
1-12 work, dedication, and perseverance displayed by these remarkable
1-13 individuals have helped ensure the election of their chosen
1-14 candidates to city, county, state, and national offices; and
1-15 WHEREAS, The persuasiveness of the federation's members has
1-16 reminded thousands of American women that their participation in
1-17 politics is both important and necessary; as a result of this
1-18 renewed commitment to the political process, political awareness
1-19 among American women today stands at an all-time high; and
1-20 WHEREAS, With the fast approach of the 21st century, the need
1-21 for grassroots political action groups such as this is becoming
1-22 increasingly apparent, and under the capable guidance of its
1-23 leaders, the Texas Federation of Republican Women will continue to
1-24 assure an effective leadership role for Republican women in Texas;
2-1 now, therefore, be it
2-2 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas
2-3 hereby commend the members of the Texas Federation of Republican
2-4 Women for their efforts in behalf of both the Republican Party and
2-5 women in Texas; and, be it further
2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-7 prepared for the members of the Texas Federation of Republican
2-8 Women as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
2-9 Representatives and Senate.
