HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The city of West is internationally known for its 1-2 positive portrayal of Czech heritage, known worldwide as WestFest; 1-3 and 1-4 WHEREAS, The city of West through its annual WestFest 1-5 celebration has touched the lives of, and educated millions of, 1-6 individuals about the Czech heritage and culture with its 1-7 residents' sincere hospitality; and 1-8 WHEREAS, The city of West has the finest in Czech foods and 1-9 is especially known for its delicious kolaches and old world 1-10 sausage, polka music, and Czech dancers; and 1-11 WHEREAS, The city of West deserves recognition for all its 1-12 citizens' efforts in maintaining not only the heritage of their 1-13 forefathers, but also the honor and values that are necessary for 1-14 the preservation of our country; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Zivot ve Westu je pozehanim od Boha, which 1-16 translates as "to live in West is to be blessed by God"; now, 1-17 therefore, be it 1-18 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-19 hereby commend the city of West for its outstanding commitment to 1-20 the cause of promoting cultural unity and extend sincere best 1-21 wishes for continued success in the years to come; and, be it 1-22 further 1-23 RESOLVED, That the city of West is the Czech heritage capital 1-24 of the State of Texas and home of the official kolache of the Texas 2-1 Legislature; and, be it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-3 prepared for the city of West as an expression of high regard by 2-4 the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
