HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, Superintendent Dawson and the staff of the North 1-2 Lamar Independent School District will be honored for their 1-3 outstanding commitment to their community when they accept the 1-4 Texas Department of Human Services' Region 04 Youth Division Award 1-5 for Volunteer Initiative of the Year on April 22, 1997, and this 1-6 prestigious accolade is indeed well deserved; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Superintendent Dawson has worked with the department 1-8 to raise funds to meet the emergency needs of aged and disabled 1-9 individuals in a 23-county area in Northeast Texas, organizing the 1-10 Jingle Bell Walk in his school district and actively promoting the 1-11 department's program to his peers; he was amply rewarded for his 1-12 stalwart efforts, for more than 20 school districts plan to follow 1-13 his lead and host walk-a-thons to benefit this worthy endeavor; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Through his noteworthy efforts, James Dawson has 1-15 helped to enhance the quality of life of countless Texans, and it 1-16 is a pleasure to recognize him at this time; now, therefore, be it 1-17 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-18 hereby commend Superintendent James A. Dawson for his exemplary 1-19 work in behalf of others and extend to him warmest best wishes for 1-20 continued success and happiness in all his future endeavors; and, 1-21 be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-2 prepared for Superintendent Dawson as an expression of high regard 2-3 by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
