No. 216 75R12055 JTR-F HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, The documentation prepared for state building 1-2 construction, in the way of plans, specifications, instructions, 1-3 and job information, is immense; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The reproduction of said state documents costs the 1-5 state a substantial sum; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The storage costs of these paper documents for 7 to 1-7 10 years can be greatly reduced through the use of electronic 1-8 formats and digital disks; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The Corps of Engineers' decision to convert paper 1-10 documents to electronic format has proven to be more effective and 1-11 cost-efficient; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The move from paper to electronic documents will 1-13 preserve natural resources in future years; now, therefore, be it 1-14 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-15 hereby encourage all state agencies, departments, offices, and 1-16 related entities to eliminate barriers to the conversion of 1-17 building project documentation into electronic format and strive to 1-18 implement the conversion of all future building project 1-19 documentation, including bidding and communication, into electronic 1-20 format; and, be it further 1-21 RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official 1-22 copy of this resolution to the executive director or manager of 1-23 each such agency or office within the State of Texas.
