No. 219 75R9049 SAJ-F HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately convey the deep shock and 1-2 sorrow that accompanied the tragic death of United States Border 1-3 Patrol Agent Jefferson Barr in January 1996; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native of Sterling City, he was graduated from 1-5 Angelo State University and had just completed his eighth year of 1-6 service to the agency; well regarded by his colleagues for his 1-7 strong sense of duty and brave and meritorious service, he proudly 1-8 served his fellow citizens as a member of the agency's emergency 1-9 response team; and 1-10 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Agent Barr was sustained by 1-11 the love and support of his family, and his devotion to his wife 1-12 and children was a source of inspiration to many in the Eagle Pass 1-13 community; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Agent Barr was a man of tremendous integrity and 1-15 courage whose outstanding record of public service speaks for 1-16 itself; though his life was tragically cut short, his memory will 1-17 long endure as an inspiration to all who were privileged to know 1-18 him, as well as to a new generation of law enforcement officers who 1-19 choose to follow in this difficult but essential profession; now, 1-20 therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-22 hereby pay tribute to the life of Agent Jefferson Barr and extend 1-23 sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his beloved wife, 1-24 Leigh Ann Barr; to his daughter, Tiffany Dale Barr; to his son, 2-1 Cody Garrett Barr; to his parents, Kenneth and Gloria Barr; to his 2-2 brother and sister-in-law, Greg and Teresa Barr; to his sister, 2-3 Christie Ellen Barr; to his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George 2-4 Jefferson Myers; and to the many other friends and relatives of 2-5 this esteemed Texan; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-8 House of Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in 2-9 memory of United States Border Patrol Agent Jefferson Barr.
