HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 1-1           WHEREAS, For nearly 35 years, Calvin A. Rinn managed the

 1-2     Stiles Farm Foundation for the Board of Regents of Texas A&M

 1-3     University, and his recent retirement on January 31, 1997, marks an

 1-4     event that is indeed worthy of special legislative recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University, Mr. Rinn

 1-6     received his bachelor's degree in agriculture in 1951 and his

 1-7     master's degree in dairy science in 1963; he is a longtime member

 1-8     of a number of prestigious agricultural organizations, including

 1-9     the Texas Pork Producers, and in 1989 he was named Man of the Year

1-10     in Texas Agriculture by the County Agriculture Agents Association;

1-11     and

1-12           WHEREAS, Mr. Rinn's dedication to the essential agricultural

1-13     research that has occurred under the auspices of the Stiles Farm

1-14     Foundation has led to many advances in the field of agriculture,

1-15     and his capable leadership has helped to ensure that the farm has

1-16     remained entirely self-supporting, in accordance with the will of

1-17     the farm's benefactor, Mr. H. A. Stiles; and

1-18           WHEREAS, Calvin A. Rinn has devoted himself to improving

1-19     Texas' formidable reputation as a leader in the world of

1-20     agriculture, and his commitment to this worthy and necessary cause

1-21     is truly inspirational; now, therefore, be it

1-22           RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas

1-23     hereby honor Calvin A. Rinn on the occasion of his retirement for

1-24     his many years of service to the Texas agricultural community and

 2-1     extend to him sincere best wishes for continued happiness in the

 2-2     years to come; and, be it further

 2-3           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-4     prepared for Mr. Rinn as an expression of high regard by the Texas

 2-5     House of Representatives and Senate.
