No. 235 1-2 (In the Senate - Received from the House May 16, 1997; 1-3 May 17, 1997, read first time and referred to Committee on 1-4 Administration; May 18, 1997, reported favorably by the following 1-5 vote: Yeas 6, Nays 0; May 18, 1997, sent to printer.) 1-6 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-7 WHEREAS, The Texas Association of African American Chambers 1-8 of Commerce has for many years distinguished itself as a respected 1-9 voice for business in the State of Texas; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The work done by the organization has greatly 1-11 benefited the State of Texas through economic and community 1-12 development programs, and the African American Chambers of Commerce 1-13 have unceasingly promoted their communities to help create quality 1-14 growth and development; and 1-15 WHEREAS, The business community, represented by the Texas 1-16 Association of African American Chambers of Commerce, has been a 1-17 driving force in fostering enhanced educational opportunities, 1-18 infrastructure improvements, leadership development, job creation, 1-19 and a positive vision of the future; and 1-20 WHEREAS, This outstanding association works in a cooperative 1-21 spirit with other organizations to achieve economic growth and 1-22 strength throughout the state, and it is appropriate to recognize 1-23 its impressive accomplishments at this time; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-25 hereby honor the Texas Association of African American Chambers of 1-26 Commerce and its many volunteers for steadfast work in behalf and 1-27 support of the State of Texas, and designate May 5-9, 1997, as 1-28 Chamber of Commerce Week in the State of Texas; and, be it further 1-29 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-30 prepared for the Texas Association of African American Chambers of 1-31 Commerce as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of 1-32 Representatives and Senate. 1-33 * * * * *
