HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 1-1           WHEREAS, On March 8, 1997, Brigadier General Bertus Leroy

 1-2     Sisco was appointed interim commander of the Texas State Guard, and

 1-3     it is indeed fitting at this time that he be recognized for his

 1-4     many achievements as a soldier and citizen; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Dedicated to the defense of his country, General

 1-6     Sisco has served with distinction in the armed forces of the Texas

 1-7     National Guard for more than three decades; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, General Sisco's outstanding record of accomplishment

 1-9     as a military man is aptly reflected in the many honors he has been

1-10     accorded, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army

1-11     Achievement Medal, the National Defense Medal, and the Army Service

1-12     Ribbon; and

1-13           WHEREAS, As a regional manager of BANCTEX Financial Systems

1-14     Corporation, General Sisco's success in his endeavors as a civilian

1-15     parallels that of his military career, and in his capacity as a

1-16     financial officer for the company, he is responsible for more than

1-17     $42 million in annual sales of computer systems and related

1-18     products; and

1-19           WHEREAS, He graduated from Abilene Christian University in

1-20     1967, where he was a student leader, and he was later appointed to

1-21     the ACU National Development Council in April 1987, where he

1-22     continued to serve the university; and

1-23           WHEREAS, Throughout his career, General Sisco has drawn on

1-24     his close-knit family for strength and inspiration, and he and his

 2-1     wife Frances continue to take great pride and joy in their

 2-2     children, Brandon Sisco, Trevor Sisco, and Shae Sisco; their

 2-3     daughter-in-law, Laura Rizzuto; and their grandchildren, Blake and

 2-4     Alexa; and

 2-5           WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure in the Texas National Guard,

 2-6     and more recently the Texas State Guard, Leroy Sisco has served his

 2-7     fellow Texans with diligence and integrity, and his great

 2-8     contributions to the security of the Lone Star State are truly

 2-9     worthy of special praise and recognition; now, therefore, be it

2-10           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives and Senate of the

2-11     75th Texas Legislature hereby honor Brigadier General Bertus Leroy

2-12     Sisco on the occasion of his promotion to the post of the interim

2-13     commander of the Texas State Guard and extend to him sincere best

2-14     wishes for continued success and happiness in the future; and, be

2-15     it further

2-16           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-17     prepared for General Sisco as an expression of high regard by the

2-18     Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
