James Bowles will be honored for 1-8 his many years of service with the American Association of Retired 1-9 Persons; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Mr. Bowles is a retired engineer and a graduate of 1-11 the Southern Methodist University School of Engineering and Applied 1-12 Science; before his retirement in 1977, he was president of 1-13 Dallas-based Bowles and Edens Company and served as vice president 1-14 of the supply division of CertainTeed Corporation in Valley Forge, 1-15 Pennsylvania; and 1-16 WHEREAS, A former president of the Texas Society of 1-17 Professional Engineers, Mr. Bowles is a registered professional 1-18 engineer in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas, and he 1-19 currently serves on the board of directors of the Senior Citizens 1-20 of Greater Dallas; he is a member of Highland Park United Methodist 1-21 Church and has spent the years following his retirement actively 1-22 promoting the concerns of people of all ages in regard to their 1-23 health, welfare, safety, and finances; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Mr. Bowles has been particularly diligent in behalf 1-25 of retired Americans, serving in a variety of capacities with many 1-26 organizations and associations that promote the rights of these 1-27 important citizens; this dedication and commitment to excellence 1-28 has earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, and it is 1-29 indeed a privilege to recognize him for his achievements at this 1-30 time; now, therefore, be it 1-31 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-32 hereby commend E. James Bowles for his longtime service with the 1-33 American Association of Retired Persons and extend to him sincere 1-34 best wishes for continued success and happiness in the future; and, 1-35 be it further 1-36 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-37 prepared for Mr. Bowles as an expression of high regard by the 1-38 Texas House of Representatives and Senate. 1-39 * * * * *
