HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 1-1 WHEREAS, This year, Ben E. Harmon is retiring as assistant 1-2 superintendent for student services in the Lewisville Independent 1-3 School District (ISD), drawing to a close a distinguished tenure in 1-4 the field of public education that has spanned 45 years; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Harmon was awarded a bachelor's degree from 1-6 Austin College before earning a master's degree in education from 1-7 the University of North Texas in 1963; and 1-8 WHEREAS, He began his noteworthy career at Itasca High School 1-9 in 1952, and after seven years there, he transferred to Lewisville 1-10 High School, where he became a positive influence in the lives of 1-11 many young Texans as a teacher, coach, and principal; and 1-12 WHEREAS, In 1976, Mr. Harmon was named assistant 1-13 superintendent for student services in the Lewisville ISD, and his 1-14 remarkable contributions earned him well-deserved acclaim, for he 1-15 was named Administrator of the Year by the Lewisville School Board 1-16 in 1992 and was awarded an honorary lifetime membership in the 1-17 Lewisville ISD Council of Parents and Teachers Association; and 1-18 WHEREAS, A man of immense vision, Ben Harmon has greatly 1-19 enhanced the quality of education in his community, and he is 1-20 indeed worthy of special praise and recognition at this time; now, 1-21 therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas 1-23 hereby congratulate Ben E. Harmon on his outstanding service as 1-24 assistant superintendent for student services in the Lewisville 2-1 Independent School District and extend to him warmest best wishes 2-2 for a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further 2-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-4 prepared for Mr. Harmon as an expression of high regard by the 2-5 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
