HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature is proud to recognize the

 1-2     valuable role played by the Tarrant County Employment Network

 1-3     (TCEN) in establishing many of the fine workforce programs

 1-4     benefiting local citizens; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, The goal of this outstanding organization is to

 1-6     provide  a community resource for Tarrant County's unemployed and

 1-7     underemployed citizens; many of the network's programs provide

 1-8     workforce training to develop and enhance individuals' skills while

 1-9     others provide employment assistance services to help potential

1-10     employees find an appropriate  environment in which to apply their

1-11     specific skills or expertise; and

1-12           WHEREAS, In November 1994, TCEN established the Arlington

1-13     Career Center (ACC), the first full-service one-stop center in

1-14     Tarrant County; ACC offers an array of services to unemployed and

1-15     underemployed individuals in a single location, making the

1-16     job-hunting and career-advancement processes simpler and more

1-17     effective; and

1-18           WHEREAS, TCEN opened its second  one-stop center in April

1-19     1996 on the campus of the Resource Connection; these two

1-20     facilities, along with the other exemplary programs supported by

1-21     TCEN, have earned national recognition and have become models for

1-22     similar programs designed to address the issue of unemployment in

1-23     America; and

1-24           WHEREAS, TCEN has helped thousands of Texans to achieve their

 2-1     goal of full-time employment, thereby reestablishing the sense of

 2-2     self-respect that comes from contributing to the workforce, and it

 2-3     is truly a privilege to laud this exceptional organization  at this

 2-4     time;  now, therefore, be it

 2-5           RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas

 2-6     hereby recognize the Tarrant County Employment Network and  commend

 2-7     all those who have become involved in this visionary effort to

 2-8     promote employment opportunities in Texas; and, be it further

 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-10     prepared for the Tarrant County Employment Network as an expression

2-11     of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
