                             HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

 1-1           WHEREAS, On May 20, 1997, the Midland Association for

 1-2     Retarded Citizens will honor Lori Bennington with the 1997 Educator

 1-3     of the Year Award, and this notable occasion is truly worthy of

 1-4     special praise and recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Children are the Lone Star State's most precious

 1-6     natural resource, and the dedicated professionals entrusted with

 1-7     their education are deeply deserving of every Texan's gratitude and

 1-8     admiration; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, The particular challenges of educating the mentally

1-10     retarded require teachers of unusual skill and sensitivity, and

1-11     those who undertake this difficult but rewarding work embody the

1-12     highest ideals of the teaching profession; Lori Bennington is one

1-13     such individual, and her remarkable gifts as a teacher and her

1-14     powerful commitment to the well-being of her students resound

1-15     throughout their lives and the lives of those who love them; and

1-16           WHEREAS, Lori Bennington has distinguished herself as an

1-17     educator of compassion and ability, and it is indeed fitting at

1-18     this time to recognize her for her remarkable contributions to the

1-19     community; now, therefore, be it

1-20           RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas

1-21     hereby congratulate Lori Bennington on being named the 1997

1-22     Educator of the Year by the Midland Association for Retarded

1-23     Citizens and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued

1-24     success and happiness in the future; and, be it further

 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-2     prepared for Ms. Bennington as an expression of high regard by the

 2-3     Texas House of Representatives.
