HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
1-1 WHEREAS, On September 24, 1997, the Midland College community
1-2 will celebrate the dedication of the school's Pevehouse
1-3 Administration Building, and this auspicious occasion is truly
1-4 worthy of special recognition; and
1-5 WHEREAS, The year 1997 marks Midland College's 25th
1-6 anniversary, and throughout its history this vital and valued
1-7 institution has been shaped and nurtured by the many remarkable
1-8 contributions of Beverly Pevehouse and her late husband, Joe
1-9 Pevehouse; and
1-10 WHEREAS, Longtime residents of Midland, Mr. and
1-11 Mrs. Pevehouse were associated with the school from its inception;
1-12 between them they served a total of 16 years on the Midland College
1-13 Foundation Board, and Mr. Pevehouse lent his energy and expertise
1-14 to the board as its first president; and
1-15 WHEREAS, The Pevehouse Administration Building will house
1-16 Midland College's executive offices, business office, and community
1-17 services, and naming this essential element of the campus after Joe
1-18 and Beverly Pevehouse is indeed a fitting tribute to these notable
1-19 Texans; and
1-20 WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. and Mrs. Pevehouse have affirmed
1-21 their commitment to Midland College's educational mission through
1-22 their active participation in the life of the school as well as
1-23 through their remarkable gift of $1 million to the Midland College
1-24 Foundation Board, and they have imbued their material contributions
2-1 with their own generosity of spirit to create a lasting legacy that
2-2 will benefit generations of Texans to come; now, therefore, be it
2-3 RESOLVED, That the 75th Legislature of the State of Texas
2-4 hereby honor Beverly Pevehouse and the late Joe Pevehouse for their
2-5 exemplary dedication to the cause of higher education and extend to
2-6 Mrs. Pevehouse sincere best wishes for continued success and
2-7 happiness in the future; and, be it further
2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-9 prepared for Mrs. Pevehouse as an expression of high regard by the
2-10 Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
