A JOINT RESOLUTION
1-1 proposing a constitutional amendment authorizing counties to
1-2 maintain private roads that are used by public school buses.
1-3 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Article III, Texas Constitution, is amended by
1-5 adding Section 52g to read as follows:
1-6 Sec. 52g. A county may maintain a private road if the
1-7 private road is used by a public school bus for the purpose of
1-8 transporting students to or from a public school. The legislature
1-9 by general law may limit this authority.
1-10 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1-11 submitted to the voters at an election held November 4, 1997. The
1-12 ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
1-13 proposition: "The constitutional amendment authorizing counties to
1-14 maintain private roads that are used by public school buses."
