                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, On January 26, 1997, members of Brook Hollow Baptist

 1-2     Church in DeSoto will celebrate 30 years of dedicated service to

 1-3     the spiritual needs of their community, and this significant

 1-4     milestone is indeed deserving of special recognition;

 1-5           WHEREAS, The church was founded by Dr. Clyde H. Box, and

 1-6     during its first year, members gathered for services at Belt Line

 1-7     School before establishing a permanent sanctuary at 135 West

 1-8     Wintergreen; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Inspired leadership and an active congregation have

1-10     helped Brook Hollow Baptist Church to flourish through the years,

1-11     and it currently targets the diverse needs of its community with a

1-12     number of innovative and successful programs, such as Bible

1-13     studies, Awana Clubs, a youth group, a ladies ministry, and several

1-14     outreach programs; and

1-15           WHEREAS, The church is also well known for its evangelism,

1-16     and many faithful members have touched the lives of others around

1-17     the world as pastors, missionaries, and teachers; currently, the

1-18     church helps to support more than 60 missionaries worldwide; and

1-19           WHEREAS, Throughout its proud history, Brook Hollow Baptist

1-20     Church has provided outstanding spiritual leadership and moral

1-21     guidance to its congregation; the church stands today as a tribute

1-22     to the dedication and hard work of its members, past and present,

1-23     who have devoted their time, energy, and resources to ensure its

1-24     continued existence as a house of God; now, therefore, be it

 2-1           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-2     Legislature hereby honor Brook Hollow Baptist Church on the

 2-3     occasion of its 30th anniversary and commend Pastor Russell W.

 2-4     Jones and his congregation for the many significant contributions

 2-5     they have made to the betterment of their community; and, be it

 2-6     further

 2-7           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-8     prepared for the Brook Hollow Baptist Church in DeSoto as an

 2-9     expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
