R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, On December 31, 1996, Constable Clyde R. Jordan

 1-2     retired from his position as a law enforcement official, and we

 1-3     join his family, friends, and constituents in offering heartfelt

 1-4     thanks for his 16 years of  exemplary service; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Since January 1, 1981, Constable Jordan has

 1-6     committed himself to ensuring the safety and well-being of his

 1-7     community, which includes the cities of Vidor, Rose City, and Pine

 1-8     Forest, and his skill and dedication as a peace officer have left a

 1-9     lasting legacy; and

1-10           WHEREAS, Active in numerous worthy causes, Mr. Jordan has

1-11     given freely of his time and talents to his fellow citizens, and

1-12     for four decades he has worked with young members of the 4-H Club

1-13     and the Future Farmers of America; he is also a member of the Young

1-14     Men's Business League, the Evening Optimist Club, and the Vidor

1-15     Chamber of Commerce, and is a senior member of the Orange County Go

1-16     Texan Committee for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo; and

1-17           WHEREAS, In addition to his many other accomplishments,

1-18     Constable Jordan is known far and wide as a world-class master of

1-19     the art of barbecue, and he has taken top honors at numerous events

1-20     for his crowd-pleasing skills in this field; and

1-21           WHEREAS, Mr. Jordan derives his greatest joy and inspiration

1-22     from his large and loving family, and in their 48 years of

1-23     marriage, he and his devoted wife Bea have been blessed with three

1-24     children, Rebecca Page, Dr. Billy M. Jordan, and Patty Walker; in

 2-1     more recent years the Jordans have welcomed the addition of five

 2-2     grandchildren: Amy Jaynes, Wendi Page, Amanda Jordan, Reagan

 2-3     Jordan, and Kevin Norton; and

 2-4           WHEREAS, Constable Clyde R. Jordan has given much of himself

 2-5     to Orange County, both as a peace officer and as a private citizen,

 2-6     and it is indeed appropriate to honor his contributions at this

 2-7     time; now, therefore, be it

 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-9     Legislature hereby honor Constable Clyde R. Jordan on the occasion

2-10     of his retirement and extend to him sincere best wishes for

2-11     continued success and happiness in the years to come; and, be it

2-12     further

2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-14     prepared for Constable Jordan as an expression of high regard by

2-15     the Texas House of Representatives.
