                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The untimely passing of Rosemary Aaron Slaton on May

 1-2     4, 1996, at the age of 52, brought a profound loss to the family

 1-3     and many friends of this esteemed individual; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, A native Texan and a longtime resident of Orange

 1-5     County, Ms. Slaton worked in the Orange County Tax Office for more

 1-6     than 31 years before being appointed to the position of tax

 1-7     assessor in 1993; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, In that capacity, Ms. Slaton earned the respect and

 1-9     admiration of her coworkers while maintaining a positive rapport

1-10     with the taxpayers she served; known for her dedication,

1-11     professionalism, and integrity, this distinguished woman will long

1-12     be remembered for her warm smile and caring demeanor, and her

1-13     absence will be keenly felt by all her colleagues; and

1-14           WHEREAS, Throughout her lifetime, Ms. Slaton drew strength

1-15     from her faith and her family; a loving wife and mother, she was

1-16     also an active member of the Second Baptist Church in Bridge City,

1-17     and she served that congregation well as a member of the Sanctuary

1-18     Choir and Women on Missions; and

1-19           WHEREAS, Both as a public servant and as a private citizen,

1-20     Rosemary Slaton devoted much of her life to serving the people of

1-21     Orange County, and it is indeed appropriate that the members of

1-22     this chamber take time today to honor her for her many exceptional

1-23     contributions; now, therefore, be it

1-24           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-1     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Rosemary Aaron Slaton

 2-2     and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to her

 2-3     husband, B. D. Slaton, Jr.; to her daughter, Hollie Dee Ann Slaton;

 2-4     to her brothers, Larry Aaron, James R. Aaron, Roy Aaron, Danny

 2-5     Aaron, and Howard Aaron; to her sisters, Peggy Hudson, Sandra

 2-6     Thornton, and Lucy Deming; and to all the relatives and friends of

 2-7     this beloved woman; and, be it further

 2-8           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-9     prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas

2-10     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-11     Rosemary Aaron Slaton.
