R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, In September 1995, the congregation of Vashti

 1-2     Baptist Church celebrated the 100th anniversary of this venerable

 1-3     institution, and this event is truly worthy of special praise and

 1-4     recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Throughout the last century, Vashti Baptist Church

 1-6     has served as a source of strength and inspiration to its members,

 1-7     and in joining together in praise they have affirmed both their

 1-8     dedication to their community and their devotion to God; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, The church's anniversary observance harmoniously

1-10     combined these qualities of fellowship and reverence to produce a

1-11     celebration as meaningful as it was enjoyable, and just as the

1-12     joyous gospel singing and festive ice cream social of Saturday

1-13     night brought the church community together in warm friendship, so

1-14     did the stately dignity of the Sunday service renew their

1-15     commitment as worshipers; and

1-16           WHEREAS, Vashti Baptist Church has served as the spiritual

1-17     center of its parishioners' lives for more than 100 years, and it

1-18     is to be devoutly hoped that it will continue to do so for many

1-19     centuries to come; now, therefore, be it

1-20           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-21     Legislature hereby congratulate the pastor and congregation of

1-22     Vashti Baptist Church on the occasion of the church's 100th

1-23     anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued

1-24     success and happiness in the future; and, be it further

 2-1           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-2     prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the

 2-3     Texas House of Representatives.
