R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Charlie Marshall has devoted his life to assisting

 1-2     the members of the Aransas Pass community, and his efforts in

 1-3     behalf of his fellow citizens are truly deserving of special

 1-4     legislative recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Mr. Marshall has maintained the highest professional

 1-6     standards during his many years of service as the owner and

 1-7     operator of Marshall Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., and his

 1-8     dedication to the citizens of Aransas Pass and his compassion in

 1-9     their time of need  are nothing short of inspirational; and

1-10           WHEREAS, For nearly 40 years, Mr. Marshall has provided civic

1-11     leadership on both the state and local levels, most notably as a

1-12     37-year member of the Aransas Pass Independent School District's

1-13     board of  trustees; first elected to the board in 1959, he served

1-14     as vice president from 1961 to 1965 when he began his first term as

1-15     president; and

1-16           WHEREAS, This distinguished Texan was elected president of

1-17     the Aransas Pass Chamber of Commerce in 1952, and in 1973 he was

1-18     named Citizen of the Year by that group; the Aransas Pass Womans

1-19     Club recognized Mr. Marshall as its Honored Citizen of the year in

1-20     1980, providing a fitting tribute to his honesty and integrity; and

1-21           WHEREAS, To commemorate his many contributions to the

1-22     citizens of Aransas Pass, the city's newest elementary school will

1-23     bear his name and stand as a reminder of his dedicated service to

1-24     the children of that community; recognized as more than a leader,

 2-1     this thoughtful and generous man is a trusted neighbor and friend

 2-2     whose good works have done much to benefit his adopted hometown;

 2-3     now, therefore, be it

 2-4           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-5     Legislature hereby honor Charlie Marshall for his contributions to

 2-6     the Aransas Pass community and extend to him sincere best wishes

 2-7     for continued success and happiness in the years to come; and, be

 2-8     it further

 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-10     prepared for Mr. Marshall as an expression of high regard by the

2-11     Texas House of Representatives.
