R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Girl Scouts of America, founded in 1912, is part

 1-2     of a worldwide organization dedicated to training young women in

 1-3     responsible citizenship, good conduct, and outdoor activities; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, The San Jacinto Girl Scout Council is a respected

 1-5     member of this association and represents girls from local troops

 1-6     in 21 Texas counties; and

 1-7           WHEREAS, This year the San Jacinto Girl Scout Council will

 1-8     host a statewide recognition ceremony for members who have earned

 1-9     the highest award in girl scouting, the Girl Scout Gold Award; and

1-10           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives heartily endorses

1-11     the goals and objectives of the Girl Scouts of America and applauds

1-12     the San Jacinto Girl Scout Council for sponsoring this special

1-13     recognition ceremony; now, therefore, be it

1-14           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-15     Legislature hereby grant the San Jacinto Girl Scout Council

1-16     permission to use the house chamber, provided that the house is not

1-17     in session and subject to house rules and policies of the Committee

1-18     on House Administration, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on June 9, 1997,

1-19     for the purpose of conducting a statewide ceremony honoring young

1-20     women who have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award.
