No. 47 75R4566 JTR-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, One of the Lone Star State's most notable assets is 1-2 its dynamic and diverse Hispanic community, and Hispanic business 1-3 is an integral component of the Texas economy; and 1-4 WHEREAS, The Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers 1-5 of Commerce (TAMACC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the 1-6 support and promotion of Hispanic business in Texas; founded in 1-7 1975, TAMACC now boasts more than 11,500 members in 27 cities 1-8 throughout the state; and 1-9 WHEREAS, This fine organization seeks to strengthen 1-10 connections among Hispanic business owners while creating new 1-11 opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs, and through such highly 1-12 successful ventures as its annual statewide convention and its 1-13 Texas Business Center internet site, the organization has become a 1-14 key presence in the world of commerce; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Through its Corporate Partnership Program, the 1-16 association also works closely with major corporations to improve 1-17 Hispanic representation in the top ranks of those companies, as 1-18 well as encouraging them to trade with Hispanic business suppliers 1-19 and distributors; and 1-20 WHEREAS, While Texas prepares to enter the next century, the 1-21 increasing importance of Hispanic business owners and entrepreneurs 1-22 cannot be overestimated, and TAMACC's outstanding efforts continue 1-23 to benefit not only the Hispanic business community but all Texans; 1-24 now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-2 Legislature hereby recognize January 28, 1997, as Texas Association 2-3 of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce Day at the Capitol, and 2-4 extend to the organization sincere best wishes for continued 2-5 success in the years to come; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of 2-8 Commerce as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of 2-9 Representatives.
