R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, January 31, 1997, marks National Appreciation Day
1-2 For Catholic Teachers and this provides a most fitting occasion to
1-3 honor the teaching staff of St. Mary's Elementary School in the
1-4 community of West for its remarkable service to the children of our
1-5 state; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Since it was founded in 1899, the school has done an
1-7 outstanding job of meeting the educational needs of its community,
1-8 and today its 17 staff members serve as positive role models to
1-9 nearly 147 students enrolled in the school's prekindergarten
1-10 through eighth-grade classes; and
1-11 WHEREAS, These dedicated professionals have helped and
1-12 encouraged countless young Texans to strive toward achieving their
1-13 highest potential, and their unwavering commitment will continue to
1-14 play a vital role in preparing the students of their community for
1-15 leadership roles well into the coming century; now, therefore, be
1-16 it
1-17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
1-18 Legislature hereby honor the many fine educators of St. Mary's
1-19 Elementary School and Principal Joe Gough on the occasion of
1-20 National Appreciation Day For Catholic Teachers and extend to them
1-21 our heartfelt gratitude for their remarkable efforts in behalf of
1-22 the youth of their community; and, be it further
1-23 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
1-24 prepared for prominent display at St. Mary's Elementary School as
2-1 an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
