R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, For 30 years, Doralene Lassiter has been a valued

 1-2     employee of the State of Texas, and her many years of service to

 1-3     the citizens of our great state are indeed worthy of special

 1-4     legislative recognition; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Mrs. Lassiter began her career with the state in

 1-6     1966 as an employee of the Texas Department of Human Services, and

 1-7     two years later she joined the Texas Department of Health (TDH) as

 1-8     a nurse in Marfa; in 1972, this public servant was named manager of

 1-9     nursing for the TDH field office in Marfa, a position she still

1-10     holds in addition to a post as Rio Grande Area nursing supervisor;

1-11     and

1-12           WHEREAS, During her tenure with TDH, Mrs. Lassiter has helped

1-13     to initiate many preventative health care services for the

1-14     residents of Jeff Davis County and the surrounding area; services

1-15     such as family planning and immunization have been of great benefit

1-16     to many West Texas families, and Mrs. Lassiter's dedication to

1-17     these programs has helped ensure their success; and

1-18           WHEREAS, In 1979, this esteemed woman received the Community

1-19     Achievement Award from the Marfa Chamber of Commerce, and she was

1-20     named Nurse of the Year for her region in 1991; Mrs. Lassiter

1-21     served on Marfa's school board from 1976 to 1985, and she is

1-22     currently a member of the Big Bend Regional Hospital District board

1-23     of directors; and

1-24           WHEREAS, Mrs. Lassiter's commitment to her profession is

 2-1     surpassed only by her devotion to her family; she and Bobby, her

 2-2     husband of almost 40 years, take great pride in their children,

 2-3     Arman, Linda, and the late Adam, and in their grandson, Trey; and

 2-4           WHEREAS, Doralene Lassiter's hard work and determination are

 2-5     a continual inspiration to all who know her, and Texans everywhere

 2-6     are fortunate to have this commendable woman working in their

 2-7     behalf; now, therefore, be it

 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-9     Legislature hereby honor Doralene Lassiter for her many years of

2-10     service to the State of Texas and extend to her sincere best wishes

2-11     for continued success and happiness in the years to come; and, be

2-12     it further

2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-14     prepared for Mrs. Lassiter as an expression of high regard by the

2-15     Texas House of Representatives.
