R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans 1-2 who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a 1-3 memorable occasion worthy of special praise and recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Grover and Phyllis McMinn of Fort Worth will have 1-5 the privilege of commemorating such a momentous event in their 1-6 lives when they celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on 1-7 February 9, 1997, with a festive dinner party; and 1-8 WHEREAS, United in matrimony in 1947 in Weatherford, the 1-9 McMinns have nurtured an enduring relationship that has grown in 1-10 love and respect with each passing year, and they have enriched not 1-11 only their own lives but the lives of those around them with their 1-12 devotion to each other; and 1-13 WHEREAS, A World War II veteran, Mr. McMinn is retired from 1-14 his career as an inspector with Harbison-Fischer Manufacturing, 1-15 while Mrs. McMinn is retired from her position as a nurse with 1-16 Harris Methodist Hospital; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Now deservedly reaping the many benefits of a full 1-18 life together, the McMinns find they have more time to participate 1-19 in their favorite leisure activities; the couple are active members 1-20 of River Oaks Christian Church and the Camper Ranch Club of 1-21 America, and they have enjoyed traveling throughout the United 1-22 States and British Columbia; in addition, they treasure the time 1-23 they spend with their close-knit family, which has grown to include 1-24 two beloved grandchildren; and 2-1 WHEREAS, For a half-century, Grover and Phyllis McMinn have 2-2 shared a warm and affectionate union filled with many happy times 2-3 and cherished family memories; built on a solid foundation of 2-4 mutual love, trust, and support, their marriage has been a source 2-5 of joy and inspiration to the many friends and family of this 2-6 fortunate pair; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-8 Legislature hereby congratulate Grover and Phyllis McMinn on the 2-9 occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them 2-10 warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. McMinn as an expression of high regard by 2-13 the Texas House of Representatives.
