R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to 1-2 welcome students visiting the State Capitol today from Austin's 1-3 Walnut Creek Elementary School; and 1-4 WHEREAS, On the heels of Governor George W. Bush's State of 1-5 the State address, and with the 75th Legislative Session underway, 1-6 the Capitol is abuzz with activity and offers these young people a 1-7 chance to see their state government functioning at its dynamic 1-8 best; and 1-9 WHEREAS, To aid in their study of Texas' exciting history, 1-10 this group of energetic fourth-graders will have the opportunity to 1-11 avail themselves of the Capitol Complex's superb educational 1-12 resources; the outstanding collection of art and documentation 1-13 housed in this celebrated edifice provides an exceptional source of 1-14 information for those interested in the chronicles of this vast and 1-15 varied region; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The historic Capitol, with its impressive rotunda 1-17 and distinctive pink granite facade, is an ideal setting for young 1-18 and old alike to discover the rich heritage that is Texas and to 1-19 gain insight into the workings of our state legislature, and the 1-20 members of this chamber are pleased to commemorate this worthwhile 1-21 visit; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-23 Legislature hereby welcome the fourth-grade students of Walnut 1-24 Creek Elementary School and encourage them to embrace the long and 2-1 fascinating history of the Lone Star State and to continue in their 2-2 quest toward achieving a better understanding of the important role 2-3 that our state government plays in the lives of all Texans.
