                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, Coach Robert Capello of Edcouch-Elsa High School has

 1-2     reached a significant landmark in his stellar career by achieving

 1-3     his 700th career victory as a head basketball coach; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, A 1960 graduate of Edcouch-Elsa High School, he has

 1-5     been a high school head coach for 31 years; at Edcouch-Elsa since

 1-6     1980, he has a phenomenal 70 percent win record during his

 1-7     outstanding career there; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, During the past two decades he has forged the

 1-9     program into a perennial contender for district and state honors,

1-10     and in recent years his Yellowjacket teams have dominated District

1-11     32-4A, winning six of the past seven titles; and

1-12           WHEREAS, Mr. Capello's alma mater secured his historic 700th

1-13     hardwood triumph on January 7, 1997, by overwhelming Mercedes High

1-14     School 74-52; and

1-15           WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Coach Capello has instilled

1-16     in his young players the pride, discipline, and work ethic

1-17     necessary to successfully compete at the highest level, and it is

1-18     indeed appropriate that he receive special legislative recognition

1-19     on the occasion of this notable professional milestone; now,

1-20     therefore, be it

1-21           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-22     Legislature hereby congratulate Robert Capello of Edcouch-Elsa High

1-23     School on his 700th victory as a head basketball coach and extend

1-24     to him sincere best wishes for continued success in the future;

 2-1     and, be it further

 2-2           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-3     prepared for Coach Capello as an expression of high regard by the

 2-4     Texas House of Representatives.
