R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Marion McDaniel is an accomplished poet whose works
1-2 pay tribute to the rich heritage and history of the Lone Star
1-3 State, and his achievements have earned him the prestigious title
1-4 of Poet Laureate of Comanche County; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Dubbed "The Tractor Poet" by the Baylor University
1-6 House of Poetry Literary Festival, Mr. McDaniel once wrote 35 poems
1-7 in one day while riding on a tractor, proving that the creative
1-8 muse can be nurtured by even the busiest individual, and this
1-9 remarkable feat will undoubtedly serve as inspiration for other
1-10 aspiring writers; and
1-11 WHEREAS, Having already surpassed his goal to write 30,000
1-12 poems by 1995, Mr. McDaniel has set himself an even more ambitious
1-13 aspiration: earning inclusion in the Guinness Book of World Records
1-14 as Most Prolific Poet, and with more than 600 volumes of poetry to
1-15 his credit, he is well on his way to meriting that distinction; and
1-16 WHEREAS, In giving voice to his creative vision, Mr. McDaniel
1-17 draws on the unique culture and diverse populace of Texas, and his
1-18 poetic celebration of the Lone Star State and its people is indeed
1-19 deserving of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
1-21 Legislature hereby honor Marion McDaniel for his vast contributions
1-22 to the Texas literary pantheon and extend to him warmest best
1-23 wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further
1-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-1 prepared for Mr. McDaniel as an expression of highest regard by the
2-2 Texas House of Representatives.
