                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans

 1-2     who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a

 1-3     memorable occasion worthy of honor and praise; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Rogers and Ruby Wallis of Denison recently had the

 1-5     privilege of commemorating such a momentous event in their lives

 1-6     when they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on January

 1-7     31, 1997, with a festive open house; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, United in matrimony in Oklahoma City in 1947,

 1-9     Mr. and Mrs. Wallis have nurtured a special relationship that has

1-10     grown in love and understanding with each passing year and that has

1-11     been blessed with four children, Rogers Wallis, Jr., Ray Wallis,

1-12     Sandra Wallis Massa, and Susan Wallis Green; and

1-13           WHEREAS, Mr. Wallis is now retired from his distinguished

1-14     civil service tenure at Perrin Air Force Base, and Mrs. Wallis has

1-15     retired from her nursing position with Chapel of Care Health Care

1-16     Center; the couple are vital and valued members of the Denison

1-17     community, and their newfound leisure affords them greater

1-18     opportunities to spend time with their nine grandchildren and 11

1-19     great-grandchildren; and

1-20           WHEREAS, For half a century, Rogers and Ruby Wallis have

1-21     enjoyed a deeply rewarding marriage filled with many happy times

1-22     and cherished family memories; their life together has been an

1-23     inspiration to their family and many friends, and they are indeed

1-24     deserving of special recognition at this time; now, therefore, be

 2-1     it

 2-2           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-3     Legislature hereby honor Rogers and Ruby Wallis on the occasion of

 2-4     their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them warmest best

 2-5     wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further

 2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

 2-7     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Wallis as an expression of high regard by

 2-8     the Texas House of Representatives.
