R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to 1-2 recognize Dr. Henry Scott for his exceptional contributions in the 1-3 area of public education as a teacher and administrator with the 1-4 Denison Independent School District; and 1-5 WHEREAS, After earning both a bachelor's and a master's 1-6 degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Dr. Scott 1-7 furthered his education with a doctorate in educational 1-8 administration from East Texas State University, where he continues 1-9 to have a profound effect on the field of education as an adjunct 1-10 professor; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Dr. Scott began his distinguished career at Lamesa 1-12 Junior High School in 1959; two years later, he transferred to the 1-13 Denison Independent School District, where he has greatly enhanced 1-14 the quality of public education for 36 years; and 1-15 WHEREAS, A former teacher and coach, he has proved to be a 1-16 skilled administrator as well, serving as assistant principal and 1-17 principal of Denison High School before becoming assistant 1-18 superintendent of administrative services with the district in 1-19 1981; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Since he was named superintendent of schools four 1-21 years ago, Dr. Scott has effectively managed many important 1-22 concerns, and his stalwart commitment to the children of the 1-23 district has earned him the heartfelt gratitude of the community; 1-24 he was recently nominated as the Texas Classroom Teachers 2-1 Association's 1996 Administrator of the Year in recognition of his 2-2 distinguished service; and 2-3 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, he has enjoyed the love and 2-4 support of his family, which includes his beloved wife, Inez Scott, 2-5 and the couple's four children, Suzanne Holley, Rebecca Vick, Lisa 2-6 Engle, and Brandon Scott; and 2-7 WHEREAS, Throughout his exemplary tenure with the Denison 2-8 Independent School District, Dr. Scott has been an inspiration to 2-9 his colleagues and has won a special place in the hearts of many of 2-10 his students; it is truly appropriate that he be honored for his 2-11 continuing contributions in this regard; now, therefore, be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-13 Legislature hereby honor Dr. Henry Scott for his many years of 2-14 distinguished service as an educator and extend to him warmest best 2-15 wishes for continued success and happiness in the future; and, be 2-16 it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-18 prepared for Dr. Scott as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-19 House of Representatives.
