                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans

 1-2     who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is indeed

 1-3     a memorable occasion worthy of honor and praise; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Samuel and Fern Allenbaugh, Sr., of Denison had the

 1-5     privilege of commemorating such a momentous event in their lives

 1-6     when they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on February

 1-7     9, 1997, with a festive reception hosted by their children and

 1-8     grandchildren; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, United in matrimony on February 8, 1947, in Oklahoma

1-10     City, Reverend and Mrs. Allenbaugh have nurtured a special

1-11     relationship that has grown in love and understanding with each

1-12     passing year and that has been blessed with five children, Samuel

1-13     Allenbaugh, Jr., Doris Allenbaugh Colley, Gary Allenbaugh, Jan

1-14     Allenbaugh Clark, and the late Paul Allenbaugh; and

1-15           WHEREAS, A graduate of Grayson County College and

1-16     Southeastern Oklahoma State University at Durant, Reverend

1-17     Allenbaugh served with distinction in the United States Air Force

1-18     for 26 years, and while still on active duty, he was ordained a

1-19     Baptist minister; he has served as pastor of several churches,

1-20     while his lovely and gracious wife has dedicated herself to

1-21     providing a warm and loving home for her family and attending to

1-22     the many special duties of a pastor's wife; and

1-23           WHEREAS, The couple are vital and valued members of the

1-24     Denison community, and they treasure the time they spend with their

 2-1     family, which has grown to include nine beloved grandchildren; and

 2-2           WHEREAS, For half a century, Samuel and Fern Allenbaugh, Sr.,

 2-3     have enjoyed a deeply rewarding marriage filled with many happy

 2-4     times and cherished family memories; their life together has been

 2-5     an inspiration to their family and many friends, and they are

 2-6     indeed  deserving of special legislative recognition at this time;

 2-7     now, therefore, be it

 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-9     Legislature hereby honor Samuel and Fern Allenbaugh, Sr., on the

2-10     occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them

2-11     warmest best wishes for many more years of continued success and

2-12     happiness; and, be it further

2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-14     prepared for Reverend and Mrs. Allenbaugh as an expression of high

2-15     regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
