                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans

 1-2     who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is indeed

 1-3     a memorable occasion worthy of honor and praise; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, C. R. and Margaret Bateman of Sherman had the

 1-5     privilege of commemorating such a momentous event in their lives

 1-6     when they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on February

 1-7     1, 1997, with a festive reception hosted by their children and

 1-8     grandchildren; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, United in matrimony five decades ago at Denison's

1-10     East Baptist Church, Mr. and Mrs. Bateman have nurtured a special

1-11     relationship that has grown in love and understanding with each

1-12     passing year and that has been blessed with two children, Tommy

1-13     Bateman and Lana Bateman Feagin; and

1-14           WHEREAS, Until his retirement in 1987, Mr. Bateman owned and

1-15     operated a custom harvesting business, and with the able assistance

1-16     of his wife the business thrived for 40 years; in addition to

1-17     contributing to the family business, Mrs. Bateman dedicated herself

1-18     to providing a warm and loving home for her husband and children,

1-19     and her family has now grown to include daughter-in-law Jan Bateman

1-20     and son-in-law Doyle Feagin; and

1-21           WHEREAS, The couple are vital and valued members of the

1-22     Sherman community, and their retirement affords them greater

1-23     opportunities to spend with their grandchildren, Craig Bateman,

1-24     Stacy Bateman, Kim Watson and her husband Mark, and Tanya Eichler

 2-1     and her husband Clay; the Batemans have also been blessed with

 2-2     three great-grandchildren, Haley Bateman, Britney Watson, and

 2-3     Alexandra Eichler, all of whom are a continuing source of pride and

 2-4     joy to their great-grandparents; and

 2-5           WHEREAS, For half a century, C. R. and Margaret Bateman have

 2-6     enjoyed a deeply rewarding marriage filled with many happy times

 2-7     and cherished family memories; their life together has been an

 2-8     inspiration to their family and many friends, and they are truly

 2-9     deserving of special legislative recognition at this time; now,

2-10     therefore, be it

2-11           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

2-12     Legislature hereby honor C. R. and Margaret Bateman on the occasion

2-13     of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them warmest best

2-14     wishes for many more years of continued success and happiness; and,

2-15     be it further

2-16           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-17     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Bateman as an expression of high regard

2-18     by the Texas House of Representatives.
