By Ramsay H.R. No. 159 75R5975 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Bruce P. Homoya, Sr., on February 17, 1-2 1996, brought a great loss to the many friends and relatives of 1-3 this extraordinary Texan, and the year that has passed since his 1-4 death has not dimmed the legacy of this beloved gentleman; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born October 12, 1943, in the city of West 1-6 Frankfort, in Franklin County, Illinois, Mr. Homoya pursued his 1-7 higher education at Southern Illinois University and Devry 1-8 Institute of Technology in Chicago; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Mr. Homoya was a patriotic citizen who answered his 1-10 country's call to service during the Vietnam War, during which he 1-11 admirably performed his duties as an instructor in power generator 1-12 operations and maintenance; and 1-13 WHEREAS, A significant contributor to the advancement of 1-14 telecommunications in the State of Texas, he was named vice 1-15 president of customer support in 1986 for Fujitsu's 1-16 telecommunications division in Richardson, Texas, and worked 1-17 tirelessly in his position to help prepare Texans for the 1-18 challenges that lie ahead in the 21st century; and 1-19 WHEREAS, His efforts were noted in the 1990 Who's Who 1-20 Worldwide Registry for outstanding management skills, and 1-21 Mr. Homoya went on to achieve the status of vice president of sales 1-22 at Fujitsu, in which capacity he was responsible for covering the 1-23 entire eastern region of the United States, and he held that 1-24 demanding post until his untimely passing; and 2-1 WHEREAS, A dedicated family man, Mr. Homoya was an 2-2 outstanding role model and, together with his loving wife of 27 2-3 years, Regina, he reared four children and took pride in their many 2-4 achievements including their pursuit of higher education at 2-5 Southwest Texas State University and The University of Texas at 2-6 Austin; and 2-7 WHEREAS, Bruce P. Homoya, Sr., will be remembered as a man of 2-8 great compassion who gave generously of his time, talents, and 2-9 energies to help those less fortunate; although his presence will 2-10 long be missed by all who were privileged to know him, the spirit 2-11 of this remarkable individual will surely live on in the hearts of 2-12 the many people whose lives he touched for many years to come; now, 2-13 therefore, be it 2-14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-15 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Bruce P. Homoya, Sr., 2-16 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-17 wife, Regina; to his children, Jennifer, Bruce, Jr., Heather, and 2-18 Gregory; and to all the many other friends and relatives of this 2-19 fine gentleman; and, be it further 2-20 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-21 for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of 2-22 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bruce P. 2-23 Homoya, Sr.
