R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The golden wedding anniversary of two notable Texans

 1-2     is truly worthy of special praise and recognition, and on January

 1-3     26, 1997, Ruben and Nelda Stone of Waco commemorated one such happy

 1-4     occasion with an open house celebration; and

 1-5           WHEREAS, Ruben L. Stone and the former Nelda Garner were

 1-6     united in marriage on January 26, 1947, in Waco;  Mr. Stone worked

 1-7     for General Tire and Rubber until his retirement, and since then he

 1-8     and Mrs. Stone have remained vital and valued members of the

 1-9     community; and

1-10           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Stone's greatest source of joy and

1-11     inspiration is their family, and they take great pride in their

1-12     daughters, Janis Sorenson and Sherry Westbrook, and their five

1-13     grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and

1-14           WHEREAS, Throughout a half-century, Ruben and Nelda Stone's

1-15     affection and respect for one another has continued to grow and

1-16     flourish, and it is indeed appropriate at this time to honor their

1-17     life together; now, therefore, be it

1-18           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-19     Legislature hereby congratulate Ruben and Nelda Stone on the

1-20     occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them

1-21     sincere best wishes for continued happiness in the future; and, be

1-22     it further

1-23           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

1-24     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Stone as an expression of high regard by

 2-1     the Texas House of Representatives.
