No. 172 75R5827 BNL-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans 1-2 who have shared 50 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a 1-3 memorable occasion worthy of honor and praise; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Kenneth and Frances Bailey of Sherman recently had 1-5 the privilege of commemorating such a momentous event in their 1-6 lives when they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on 1-7 January 26, 1997; and 1-8 WHEREAS, United in matrimony on January 27, 1947, at the 1-9 Travis Street Methodist Church, Mr. and Mrs. Bailey have nurtured 1-10 an enduring relationship that has grown in love and understanding 1-11 with each passing year and that has been blessed with two sons, 1-12 Paul Wilson Bailey and Eugene Lee Bailey; and 1-13 WHEREAS, A veteran of World War II, Mr. Bailey served his 1-14 country for 20 years as a member of the United States Air Force 1-15 before embarking on a distinguished career in banking; throughout 1-16 her husband's service in the Air Force, Mrs. Bailey devoted herself 1-17 to raising the couple's children and to meeting the unique 1-18 challenges faced by military wives, and she later enjoyed a 28-year 1-19 career as a receptionist for a medical clinic; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Bailey are both members of First United 1-21 Methodist Church, and they have dedicated much of their time to the 1-22 congregation's choir and Sunday school programs; in addition, 1-23 Mr. Bailey is a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a district 1-24 deputy grand master of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas, and he has 2-1 been a member of the Sherman Noon Lions Club for more than 30 2-2 years; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Through their active civic involvement, the couple 2-4 have established themselves as vital and valued members of their 2-5 community, and they now treasure the time they spend with their 2-6 family, which has grown to include their daughters-in-law, Susan 2-7 Bailey and Barbara Bailey, six grandchildren, and one 2-8 great-grandson; and 2-9 WHEREAS, For half a century, Kenneth and Frances Bailey have 2-10 enjoyed a deeply rewarding marriage filled with many happy times 2-11 and cherished family memories; their life together has been an 2-12 inspiration to their family and many friends, and they are indeed 2-13 deserving of special legislative recognition at this time; now, 2-14 therefore, be it 2-15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-16 Legislature hereby honor Kenneth and Frances Bailey on the occasion 2-17 of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them warmest best 2-18 wishes for many more years of continued success and happiness; and, 2-19 be it further 2-20 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-21 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Bailey as an expression of high regard by 2-22 the Texas House of Representatives.
