R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Lone Star State's most precious natural resource 1-2 is our children, and the school social workers who have committed 1-3 themselves to ensuring the well-being and happiness of our young 1-4 people are indeed worthy of special praise and recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, These dedicated professionals secure needed social 1-6 services for children and their families in order to give each 1-7 student every possible educational advantage, and their active 1-8 involvement in a child's life can mean the difference between 1-9 moving up or dropping out; and 1-10 WHEREAS, In fostering the active participation of educators, 1-11 parents, and their communities, school social workers help to 1-12 promote a positive learning environment and to prepare students for 1-13 the challenges and opportunities they will confront as they 1-14 approach adulthood, and in so doing, they improve the quality of 1-15 life of all Texans; now, therefore, be it 1-16 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-17 Legislature hereby recognize the week of May 5-9, 1997, as School 1-18 Social Work Week in Texas.
