R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The golden wedding anniversary of two notable Texans

 1-2     is indeed an event worthy of special praise and recognition, and on

 1-3     January 19, 1997, John and Mary Dever of Saginaw celebrated one

 1-4     such occasion at a reception hosted by their children, Larry Dever,

 1-5     Billy Dever, and Max Dever; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, John Dever and the former Mary Kunyon were united in

 1-7     wedlock on January 23, 1947, in Dallas; a veteran of World War II,

 1-8     Mr. Dever was employed by Southwestern Bell until his retirement,

 1-9     while Mrs. Dever has committed herself to maintaining a lovely home

1-10     for their family; and

1-11           WHEREAS, Through the years the Devers have derived great joy

1-12     and satisfaction from their large and loving family, and they take

1-13     particular pleasure in doting on their 11 grandchildren and six

1-14     great-grandchildren; and

1-15           WHEREAS, For half a century, John and Mary Dever's mutual

1-16     affection and regard have continued to grow and flourish, and their

1-17     lifetime together is truly a source of pride and inspiration to

1-18     their family and many friends; now, therefore, be it

1-19           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-20     Legislature hereby congratulate John and Mary Dever on their 50th

1-21     wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for

1-22     continued success and happiness in the future; and, be it further

1-23           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

1-24     prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Dever as an expression of high regard by

 2-1     the Texas House of Representatives.
