R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The golden wedding anniversary of two notable Texans 1-2 is indeed an event worthy of special praise and recognition, and on 1-3 February 9, 1997, Sandy and Terry Shields of Fort Worth celebrated 1-4 one such occasion; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Sandy Shields and the former Annette Terry were 1-6 united in matrimony on February 9, 1947, at University Christian 1-7 Church; a naval veteran of World War II, Mr. Shields worked as an 1-8 electronics representative until his retirement, while Mrs. Shields 1-9 dedicated herself to maintaining a lovely home for their family; 1-10 and 1-11 WHEREAS, Through the years Mr. and Mrs. Shields have derived 1-12 great joy and satisfaction from their children, Paula Jaegerman and 1-13 Terry Ely, and more recently they have welcomed two grandchildren 1-14 into the family fold; and 1-15 WHEREAS, For half a century, Sandy and Terry Shields have 1-16 enjoyed a marriage characterized by mutual regard and affection, 1-17 and even as their relationship continues to grow and flourish, it 1-18 is appropriate at this time to commemorate their life together; 1-19 now, therefore, be it 1-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-21 Legislature hereby congratulate Sandy and Terry Shields on their 1-22 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for 1-23 continued success and happiness in the future; and, be it further 1-24 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-1 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Shields as an expression of high regard 2-2 by the Texas House of Representatives.
