R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to

 1-2     commend the teaching staff of Sacred Heart School in Muenster for

 1-3     its exemplary service to the children of our state; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, The school was founded in 1890 shortly after the

 1-5     community of Muenster was established; the Olivetan Benedictine

 1-6     Sisters began teaching at the school five years later, and in 1995

 1-7     they celebrated a century of devout service to their community; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, Throughout its proud history, Sacred Heart School

 1-9     has adhered to the principles of faith, tradition, sacrifice, and

1-10     excellence; its many devoted teachers and staff members have

1-11     assisted and encouraged countless students in preschool through the

1-12     12th grade to strive toward achieving their highest potential, and

1-13     their exceptional efforts have earned the institution several

1-14     prestigious awards; and

1-15           WHEREAS, These esteemed educators have also served as

1-16     positive role models to many young Texans; their wise and

1-17     thoughtful guidance as sponsors, coaches, and mentors has helped

1-18     youngsters to excel in such varied activities as student

1-19     government, athletics, and fine arts, and by doing so, they have

1-20     helped to broaden the students' lives and strengthen their

1-21     self-esteem; and

1-22           WHEREAS, The teachers of Sacred Heart School have enhanced

1-23     the quality of education in their community in myriad ways, and

1-24     their unwavering commitment will continue to play a vital role in

 2-1     preparing the students of that community for leadership roles well

 2-2     into the coming century; on January 31, 1997, the Muenster

 2-3     community had the opportunity to pay tribute to these dedicated

 2-4     educators  in observance of National Appreciation Day for Catholic

 2-5     Teachers, and the members of this chamber are pleased to join in

 2-6     honoring these outstanding teachers at this time; now, therefore,

 2-7     be it

 2-8           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-9     Legislature hereby honor the many fine educators of Sacred Heart

2-10     School in Muenster and extend to them our heartfelt gratitude for

2-11     their efforts in behalf of the youth of their community; and, be it

2-12     further

2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-14     prepared for prominent display at Sacred Heart School as an

2-15     expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
