R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Victor Zemanek were

 1-2     deeply saddened by his passing on July 2, 1995, at the age of 80,

 1-3     and the members of this chamber join the Zemanek family and the

 1-4     Blessing community in remembering the life of this esteemed

 1-5     gentleman; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr. Zemanek was born January 7,

 1-7     1915, to Joseph and Christina Huff Zemanek; at the age of 13, he

 1-8     moved to Matagorda County, and over the years became a vital and

 1-9     valued member of that community; and

1-10           WHEREAS, A veteran of World War II, he answered his country's

1-11     call to arms as a member of the United States Navy, and he served

1-12     that branch with honor and distinction for 12 years; he embarked on

1-13     a long and rewarding agricultural career in 1946, and 10 years

1-14     later, he was honored as the first recipient of the Matagorda

1-15     County Outstanding Cotton Farmer of the Year award; and

1-16           WHEREAS, In addition, Mr. Zemanek worked for the betterment

1-17     of the area's educational system as a member of the Tidehaven

1-18     School Board for 12 years, and he further participated in community

1-19     affairs as a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the American

1-20     Legion Post in Blessing; and

1-21           WHEREAS, Victor Zemanek truly personified the ideals of hard

1-22     work, civic leadership, and devotion to family that Texans cherish,

1-23     for these are the ideals on which our state was built; in serving

1-24     his family, state, and community, Mr. Zemanek created a legacy of

 2-1     good works by which to remember him, and his unique spirit endures

 2-2     in the hearts of all who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it

 2-3           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-4     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Victor Zemanek and

 2-5     extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his

 2-6     beloved wife, Lydia Junek Zemanek; to his daughters and

 2-7     sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Tom DeKunder, Doris and Donnie Genzer,

 2-8     Lillian and Dennis Chastain, Betty Jean and Darrell Crain, and Jim

 2-9     Snyder; to his sons and daughters-in-law, Victor Joe and Ginger

2-10     Zemanek, John Henry and Tracy Zemanek, Robert and Joane Zemanek,

2-11     and Jerry and Cindy Zemanek; to his sisters, Liddie Pavelka, Martha

2-12     Johnston, and Sidney Bridewell; to his brother, Joe Zemanek; to his

2-13     grandchildren and great-grandchild; and to all his relatives and

2-14     friends; and, be it further

2-15           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-16     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas

2-17     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-18     Victor Zemanek.
