R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Gordon Lee Cook on July 2, 1995, at 1-2 the age of 44, has brought a great loss to the many friends and 1-3 relatives of this esteemed Bay City resident; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born November 12, 1950, in Bay City to Mark and 1-5 Oleta Campbell Cook, he was a lifelong resident of Matagorda 1-6 County, and devoted much of his time and energy to bettering the 1-7 community he loved; and 1-8 WHEREAS, An enterprising and motivated man, Mr. Cook made a 1-9 significant impact on the local gas industry as director of the Bay 1-10 City Gas Company and through his service on the Education Committee 1-11 and the Board of Directors of the Texas Gas Association; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Mr. Cook was a dynamic presence in his community and 1-13 he served in such varied roles as chairman of the Matagorda County 1-14 Fairgrounds Committee, president of the Bay City Lions Club for 1-15 1994-1995, chairman and director of the Rice Festival, and 1-16 president of the Bay City Booster Club; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Also an avid sports enthusiast, Mr. Cook shared his 1-18 love of athletics as a longtime Little League and Babe Ruth League 1-19 coach, a volunteer umpire for Youth Baseball, and director of the 1-20 Blackcat Classic Golf Tournament; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Those who were privileged to know this remarkable 1-22 man will not forget the compassion and commitment he brought to 1-23 every facet of his life; although his presence is gone from us now, 1-24 his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those whose 2-1 lives he touched during his time on this earth; now, therefore, be 2-2 it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby honor the life of Gordon Lee Cook and extend 2-5 sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Sheri 2-6 Humphries Cook; to his mother, Oleta Cook; to his children, Jessica 2-7 Cook and Will Cook; to his sister and brother-in-law, Pat and 2-8 Charles Louis Williams; to his brothers and sister-in-law, Clifton 2-9 and Marilyn Cook, and Ronnie Cook; to his mother-in-law, Wannie 2-10 Humphries; to his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lesa and 2-11 David Tidwell, Jim and Elsa Humphries, and Judy and Tommy Rowland; 2-12 to his 11 nieces and nephews; and to the many other friends and 2-13 relatives of the beloved gentleman; and, be it further 2-14 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-15 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-16 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-17 Gordon Lee Cook.
