R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to 1-2 welcome students visiting the State Capitol today from Troup 1-3 Elementary School's Gifted and Talented program; and 1-4 WHEREAS, With the 75th Legislative Session underway, the 1-5 Capitol is abuzz with activity and offers these young people a 1-6 chance to see their state government functioning at its dynamic 1-7 best; in addition to touring the Capitol, these East Texas students 1-8 will have the opportunity to view the historic Governor's Mansion 1-9 and to visit the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library; and 1-10 WHEREAS, To aid in their study of Texas' exciting history, 1-11 these first- through fifth-graders will have the chance to avail 1-12 themselves of the Capitol's superb educational resources; the 1-13 outstanding collection of art and documentation housed in this 1-14 celebrated edifice provides an exceptional source of information 1-15 for those interested in the chronicles of this vast and varied 1-16 region; and 1-17 WHEREAS, The historic Capitol, with its impressive rotunda 1-18 and distinctive pink granite facade, is an ideal setting for young 1-19 and old alike to discover the rich heritage that is Texas and to 1-20 gain insight into the workings of our state legislature, and the 1-21 members of this chamber are pleased to commemorate this worthwhile 1-22 visit; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-24 Legislature hereby welcome the students in the Gifted and Talented 2-1 Program at Troup Elementary School and extend to them sincere best 2-2 wishes for continued success and happiness in the years to come; 2-3 and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for the students as an expression of high regard by the 2-6 Texas House of Representatives.
