                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The passing of Martha Jean Hallmark on April 7,

 1-2     1996, at the age of 51, brought great sadness to the family and

 1-3     many friends of this distinguished and caring woman; and

 1-4           WHEREAS, Mrs. Hallmark was born in Orange, Texas, and grew up

 1-5     in Lake Jackson; she graduated from Brazosport High School in 1962

 1-6     before moving to Beaumont to join her childhood sweetheart and

 1-7     future husband, Dan; and

 1-8           WHEREAS, With a determined work ethic, Mrs. Hallmark

 1-9     completed her studies at the Chenier Business College in Beaumont,

1-10     going on to craft a successful 22-year career with IDECO; starting

1-11     as a temporary employee, Mrs. Hallmark held increasingly

1-12     responsible positions with the company until resigning in 1986 as a

1-13     senior order coordinator; and

1-14           WHEREAS, She was active in community affairs as well, having

1-15     served as president of the Beaumont Jayceettes, as city chair of

1-16     the March of Dimes Mother's March, as cochair of the Beaumont

1-17     Sesquicentennial Special Events Committee, as treasurer and

1-18     sustaining member of Beaumont Junior Forum, as Kaleidoscope

1-19     coordinator for the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, and as a leader

1-20     in numerous other charitable organizations that continue to miss

1-21     her dedication and drive; and

1-22           WHEREAS, A member of Calder Baptist Church and the Faith

1-23     Class for 32 years, Mrs. Hallmark served as church clerk for nine

1-24     years, dedicating her time and effort to making her community a

 2-1     better place in which to live; as the first anniversary of her

 2-2     death approaches, it is indeed appropriate that she be honored for

 2-3     her many contributions to the city of Beaumont; now, therefore, be

 2-4     it

 2-5           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

 2-6     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Martha Jean

 2-7     Hallmark and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family:

 2-8     to her husband, Dan Hallmark; to her daughter, Wendy Lynn Spears;

 2-9     to her son, Stephen Wade Hallmark; to her mother, Martha M. Day; to

2-10     her brother, John Day; to her sisters, Joann McDougal and Alice

2-11     Smith; and to all the relatives and friends of this esteemed woman;

2-12     and, be it further

2-13           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-14     prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas

2-15     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-16     Martha Jean Hallmark.
