By Stiles H.R. No. 257 75R4932 JHS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On January 31, 1997, Lee W. Robinson, Jr., resigned 1-2 as superintendent of the Nederland Independent School District 1-3 (NISD) to become president of the Mid County Teachers Credit Union; 1-4 and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson has served as superintendent since 1-6 1989, and although his leaving represents a great loss for the 1-7 residents of Nederland, the community wishes him much success in 1-8 all his future endeavors; and 1-9 WHEREAS, This esteemed gentleman was first employed by the 1-10 district in 1971 as a math teacher at Central Junior High School; 1-11 his steady ascent to the post of superintendent has included 1-12 positions as supervisor of transportation, warehousing, and 1-13 accounting; interim tax assessor-collector; business manager; and 1-14 assistant superintendent for business; and 1-15 WHEREAS, A 1964 graduate of Nederland High School, 1-16 Mr. Robinson received his bachelor's degree from Lamar State 1-17 College of Technology in 1970; throughout his 26-year career with 1-18 NISD, he has continued to pursue his education, earning his 1-19 master's of business administration in 1973 and completing 1-20 professional certification programs for mathematics, economics, 1-21 administration, and superintendence at Lamar University; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Mr. Robinson has undertaken many initiatives 1-23 designed to update and improve facilities and services within the 1-24 district, and his accomplishments have greatly benefited the 2-1 students, faculty, and staff of NISD; during his tenure, he has 2-2 overseen the construction of approximately 25 new buildings and 2-3 numerous major renovations, and his fiscal savvy has ensured the 2-4 smooth functioning of the district's day-to-day activities; and 2-5 WHEREAS, Under Mr. Robinson's capable guidance, the faculty 2-6 and staff have risen to the challenge posed by federal and state 2-7 budget cuts, and NISD continues to provide parents and students 2-8 with the excellent educational opportunities they have come to 2-9 expect; this dedicated Texan's longtime commitment to the district 2-10 has inspired all those who know him, and his many years of service 2-11 will not soon be forgotten; now, therefore, be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 2-13 Legislature hereby honor Lee Robinson for his service to Nederland 2-14 Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes 2-15 for continued success and happiness in the years to come; and, be 2-16 it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-18 prepared for Mr. Robinson as an expression of high regard by the 2-19 Texas House of Representatives.
