                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           WHEREAS, The family and friends of Paul Thomas O'Neill were

 1-2     deeply saddened by his passing on January 26, 1997, at the age of

 1-3     63, and the members of this chamber join the O'Neill family and the

 1-4     Beaumont community in bidding a reluctant farewell to this highly

 1-5     regarded gentleman; and

 1-6           WHEREAS, A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont,

 1-7     Mr. O'Neill attended Beaumont schools, and after proudly serving

 1-8     his country as a member of the United States Air Force, he founded

 1-9     Balboa Company in 1968; and

1-10           WHEREAS, Mr. O'Neill was a long-standing member of the Rotary

1-11     Club of Beaumont, and he treasured both his relationships with his

1-12     fellow Rotarians and his involvement in the club's many diverse

1-13     activities; and

1-14           WHEREAS, He was also a devoted family man who enjoyed a

1-15     richly rewarding marriage with his wife, Mary, and who took immense

1-16     pride in his children and grandchildren; and

1-17           WHEREAS, Paul O'Neill set a fine example of hard work and

1-18     community leadership for others to follow, and his many

1-19     contributions to the city of Beaumont will not soon be forgotten;

1-20     although his presence is gone from us now, his unique spirit will

1-21     surely live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives he

1-22     touched; now, therefore, be it

1-23           RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas

1-24     Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Paul Thomas O'Neill

 2-1     and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his

 2-2     beloved wife, Mary Fazio O'Neill; to his daughter and son-in-law,

 2-3     Peggy and Richard Robertson; to his son and daughter-in-law, Nick

 2-4     and Roxanne O'Neill; to his brothers, John O'Neill, William

 2-5     O'Neill, and Mike O'Neill; to his grandchildren, Allen, April, and

 2-6     Thomas Robertson, and Lindsay and Dominick O'Neill; and to all the

 2-7     relatives and many friends of this distinguished Texan; and, be it

 2-8     further

 2-9           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be

2-10     prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas

2-11     House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of

2-12     Paul Thomas O'Neill.
