R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, Manuel A. Medina, Jr., retired from his position as
1-2 a supervisor with VIA Metropolitan Transit Authority on January 1,
1-3 1997, thus bringing to a close 36 years of distinguished service to
1-4 the people of San Antonio; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Medina began his career with the transit
1-6 authority as a bus driver in 1960, and over the years he received
1-7 numerous customer commendations while earning admirable safety and
1-8 performance records; and
1-9 WHEREAS, In recognition of his outstanding service,
1-10 Mr. Medina was promoted to increasingly responsible positions,
1-11 becoming a supervisor in 1992; he excelled in this capacity as
1-12 well, and in 1995, he was honored with the Supervisor of the Year
1-13 Award for Bus Operations; and
1-14 WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Mr. Medina has been supported
1-15 by his wife of 44 years, Dora, and their marriage has been blessed
1-16 with two children and one cherished grandchild; the couple are
1-17 active members of St. Joan of Arc Parish and enjoy camping and
1-18 travelling in their recreational vehicle, and Mr. Medina's
1-19 well-deserved retirement will undoubtedly afford them more time to
1-20 pursue these activities; and
1-21 WHEREAS, Manuel A. Medina is a valued resident of the city of
1-22 San Antonio, and as he embarks on this rewarding new chapter in his
1-23 life, he is indeed deserving of legislative praise and recognition;
1-24 now, therefore, be it
2-1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas
2-2 Legislature hereby honor Manuel A. Medina, Jr., for his many years
2-3 of service to VIA Metropolitan Transit Authority and extend to him
2-4 best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement; and, be it
2-5 further
2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-7 prepared for Mr. Medina as an expression of high regard by the
2-8 Texas House of Representatives.
