By Gallego H.R. No. 293 75R4479 MPC-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of the Honorable Richard E. Elmendorf on 1-2 March 16, 1995, at the age of 84, has brought a great loss to the 1-3 many friends and relatives of this respected Presidio County public 1-4 servant; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A native of Marfa, Mr. Elmendorf demonstrated 1-6 exemplary public service to the people of West Texas throughout his 1-7 distinguished life and career; and 1-8 WHEREAS, He answered his country's call to arms during World 1-9 War II, serving the cause of freedom with courage and distinction 1-10 as a member of the United States Army Air Force; and 1-11 WHEREAS, This outstanding individual later brought his 1-12 exceptional abilities to bear for 18 years during his tenure as a 1-13 Presidio County justice of the peace; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Mr. Elmendorf was also a valued member of several 1-15 civic and professional organizations, including the Justice of the 1-16 Peace & Constable Association, the Rotary Club of Marfa, and the 1-17 Big Bend Law Enforcement Association; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Richard Elmendorf was a man of rare dedication and 1-19 integrity; although his presence is gone from us now, his spirit 1-20 will surely live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives he 1-21 touched during his time on earth; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 75th Texas 1-23 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of the Honorable 1-24 Richard E. Elmendorf and extend sincere sympathy to the members of 2-1 his family: to his beloved wife, Ruth Elmendorf; to his sister, 2-2 Zela Lorenz; to his brothers, Harry Elmendorf and Gene Elmendorf; 2-3 to his two stepchildren; and to the many other friends and 2-4 relatives of this esteemed gentleman; and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-6 for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of 2-7 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of the 2-8 Honorable Richard E. Elmendorf.
